THE GENEROSITY OF GOD

WEDNESDAY OF THE TWENTIETH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR ( A)

R1:- Ezekiel 34:1-11
PS:- 23:1-3a.3b-4.5.6 (R. 1)
Accl:- Hebrew 4:12
Gosp:- Matthew 20:1-16a

There are some people who are idle because of limited job opportunity, yet they have responsibilities.

In today’s gospel, the owner of vineyard,on his own volition, approached those labourers who were idle. He employed them, because he knew their need to make both ends meet.

This is different from our today’s situation, whereby those who are qualified for jobs would be asked to pay a bribe before they could be given an appointment. We have an insensitive government that do not see the needs of the populace as a priority.

In this parable, Jesus painted the picture of a shepherd who do not feed on the people. Rather, he presented a generous landowner, who takes the welfare of the people as a priority.

*If we are favoured by God, he does not simply gives us blessings that are commensurate with our sweat. Rather, he gives us enough resources to service our days.*

May the Lord stand up to our plight. May he bless us according to his generous love.
