HOMILY: WEDNESDAY OF THE TWENTY- THIRD WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR ( A)
R1:- 1 Corinthians 7:25-31
Accl:- Luke 6:23ab
Gosp:- Luke 6:20-26
There are some deprivations that are meant to give us access to blessedness. There are some trials that are meant to lead us to a higher life.
It becomes a waste when we suffer without any spiritual benefits. Our poverty, hunger, and weeping, if they are not endured with the strength of God, they have not spiritual merits. If people hate us a result of our personal and conscious faults, it is just our own cup of tea. It is what we suffer as a result of our choices for Christ that lead us into blessedness.
In any condition we find ourselves, let us pass through it with God in mind. Unless we face our low moments with the gospel values, we will simply suffer for suffering sake.
May God help us to put him first in the midst of our trials. May he strengthen us to face life challenges.
