_Martin was born in Hungary in the year 316 but was raised in Italy where he became a soldier and a Christian. …He went to Gaul where he founded monastery. In the year 372, he was made bishop of Tours and, until his death in 397, he used all his time and energy to spread the Christian faith in the countryside around Tours_ . Daily Missal.

It is difficult to obey who we do not believe in. Without obedience, we cannot travel far. Obedience is better than sacrifice. Doubt is a stronghold against faith. When we doubt, we cannot obey.
The lepers were told to go and show themselves to the priest. They did not hesitate. Swiftly, they obeyed the Lord and they were cleansed on their way.
At times, what God demands from us is a simple act of faith which may not even pass the test of logic. When we believe in him, we will surely believe in his word.
St Martin was a catechumen when he divided his cloak, giving half to a poor man. Later, he had a vision of Christ with that man’s face wearing the same cloak he gave him.
Every moment, God prompts us to carry out some actions for him in our family, and community, either through a fellow brother or sister, or through the leader or the constituted authority. Let us learn how to listen, humble and obedient.
