Isaiah 25: 6-10a, Mathew 15: 29-37

Having performed several miracles of healing and deliverance at the sea of Galilee, the Lord Jesus said,

” _I have compassion on the crowd because they have been with me, now three days and have nothing to eat; And I am unwilling to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way.”_

With seven loaves and two fish, he fed the multitude.

” _having give thanks he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowd_ .”

Today, there are many miracles Jesus wants to perform through us. He needs us to have something of his love and something of his compassion.

God wants a world that is whole. He wants a church that is spiritually sound and economically buoyant. He is interested in our total welfare.

There are many ways to perform this miracle today; through transfer or exchange of ideas or skill that can help others. We do not just keep what we know to ourselves. We do not cover up the job opportunities that can change the conditions of others.

The Lord wants us to be charitable. Having preached to them, he was not after their purse. Rather, he cared after their stomach.

When we share the more or the little we have, when we say no to selfishness, the church of Christ will grow without undue pressure on anybody. And the church will be a blessing and a true anchor of salvation to the world around her.

May the fire of God’s love burn deeply in us that we may be instrumental to a world redeemed. Amen.
