HOMILY OF THURSDAY OF THE SECOND WEEK OF ADVENT YEAR B
Isaiah 41:13-20, Matthew 11:11-15
It takes a desperate spirit to sail into the kingdom of God. Many tribulations await those who vow to follow the path of light. Those who want to serve God must prepare for an ordeal. The Lord said in the today’s gospel,
“From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and men of violence take it by force.”
The Lord continues to assure us that no matter what we face, he will never cease to speak to us through his servants, the prophets. In a world where it seems that the church of Christ is sinking, he gives us the assurance that he is still active. We must be bold and be ready for the challenge.
May prophetic voice never be silent in our time. May our ears be open to hear him whenever the Lord sends his words. “For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John; and if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah who is to come. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
O Lord, may I always hear you speaking in the midst of the world’s violence, that I may always be bold to lift your righteous banner. Thy kingdom come. Amen.
