THE HEART OF LOVE

HOMILY OF FRIDAY 11TH OF JUNE 2021
TENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR B

THEME: THE HEART 0F LOVE

A true loving heart cannot destroy what it built as a result of failed expectations. Even in pain, we must not cease from loving.

The Lord said in the first reading that he would not destroy Israel though Israel refused to return his love. For love, God spared man. He sent his Son to save us and he wants us to share in his unconditional love so that our hearts will always beat with his own heart.

My heart recoils within me, my compassion grows warm and tender. I will not execute my fierce anger, I will not destroy again Ephraim, for I am God and not man.” Hosea 11:1,3-4,8c-9.

Interestingly, on the cross, when the side of Jesus was pierced, water and blood came out. The water of regeneration and blood of redemption gushed out from the wound of the Divine Saviour.

A loving heart will always long to save despite all opposition or resistance. This is to say that no matter the pain that is inflicted on us, we must always long to save and to remedy situations.

If at death Jesus released healing balm, there is nothing that should stop us from performing our eternal duties of loving. If Christ’s death mean life for us, it means that there is a greater love beyond the grave. We must look heavenward and strive for our salvation.

*PRAYER*
“For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” Eph 3:14-19
