HOMILY FOR FRIDAY OF THE 3RD WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME.
HEB 10:32-39, MK 4:26-34
THEME: GRACE FOR EXPANSION
The kingdom like a mustard seed
“The kingdom of God is like a mustard seed that, when it is sown in the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on the earth. But once it is sown, it springs up and becomes the largest of plants and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the sky can dwell in its shade.”
To work with God is to be clothed with the grace for expansion. In the kingdom of God, every effort pays, and every pain is gain. Our repeated efforts with God’s grace can produce exceedingly great things in our lives and the lives of others.
Moreover, God respects process. He is ever ready to translate a little beginning into a bigger ending. When we are ready to work with him or we allow him to work through us, he can raise nations through us. He can use us to begin a movement that can move the world.
Hence, in whatever, we do, we must know that God doesn’t water a tree. He would rather sustain a whole forest. When he starts a project with us as an individual, he expects us to think corporately, putting other people into consideration. He doesn’t work with people who are afraid of change or people who do not take growth as a priority.
May we be dynamic in whatever we do and may the grace of increase flow into our laps. Amen.
