HOMILY, WEDNESDAY OF THE 28TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A
Gal 5:18-25, Luke 11:42-46
The wicked who are not ashamed of their evil deeds are better than those who answer the name of saints but are silent killers. Some are known for their charisma or magnetism, but are full of corruption. They attract people to themselves and make them less the way they came. There is no point answering a name that has no bearing in our character.
Some of the Pharisees were known for their outward piety but were ravenous wolves. The Lord Jesus said to them,
“Woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and very herb, and neglect justice and the love of God………Woe to you! For you are like graves which are not seen, and men walk over them without knowing it.”
Too much of religiosity can rip off our true sense of worship. The Lord desires that we put into practice what we teach. He wants us to be true to our call as Christians. He calls us not to be obstacles to others in their ascent to God.
May fruits of the Holy Spirit dwell in us always that we may live our lives in holiness. Amen.
