HOMILY OF THE 29TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A
Eph 4:1-6, Luke 12:54-59.
Those who always are dead bent on doing evil cannot know when judgement will come upon them. When we do not subject our actions to God’s test, we may run the risk of allowing sins to eat deep into the fabrics of our life.
The Lord said, “but why do you not know how to interpret the present time? And do you not judge for yourselves what is right? As you go with your accuser before the magistrate, make an effort to settle with him on the way, lest he drag you to the judge, and the officer put you in prison. I tell you, you will never get out till you have paid the very last copper.” Luke 12: 57-59
Making peace with God is an important task in our lives as Christians. Before God, no one is free. When we allow his spirit to lead us, we are able to read or understand those moments when we err. The flesh cannot reveal to us the will of God. It is appalling if we are good in all the crafts of the world, but listless in the things of God.
On the judgement day, neither intelligence nor how much we know can save us. It is the work of our hands that will speak for us. Therefore, THE BEST WAY TO AVOID GOD’S JUDGMENT IS TO BE SPIRITUALLY SENSITIVE TO OUR ACTIONS.
Therefore, let us strive to walk in a manner worthy of our calling that we may gain life eternal.
May we always find merciful judgment before the Lord. Amen.
