Its good we know the end for which we do whatever we do in life. That end or the purpose for which we are made, will help us to endure in the faces of tribulations that may come our way.
The time will surely come when our earthly life will come to an end. Then, what will remain will be the script of our soul journey.
However, it is sure that, nothing good comes so easy. Great things are achieved at great price.
Jesus announced in today’s gospel that the end will come after succession of happenings. It will not be at once. The end time will come with war, natural disasters and great signs from heaven.
This simply points to the fact that the world as we see it, will surely pass away. Those who boast of their material possession should know that everything physical has its span. Even human relationship has its expiry date.
More so, the tumults in the world are simple evidence that our existence cannot be tied down to anything earthly.
Though we may be persecuted or killed. We may suffer lack or struck down by sickness, our journey in Christ is a soul journey. We must not allow any experience or false witness to shift us from our soul journey.
The Vietnamese martyrs suffered great persecutions, but the church of Christ continues to grow.
Let us focus our mind on God. No matter what we may pass through, the kingdom of God among us cannot be destroyed.
May the Lord reign in our hearts. Amen.
