1st reading : 1 Corinthians 1:17-25
Psalm 32:1-2,4-5,10-11
Gospel : Matthew 25:1-13
We live in a world where everyone is busy with the acquisition of material things with minimal interest in the spiritual. Consequently, only a few in the midst of this struggle are able to prepare themselves for the kingdom of God.
In the gospel of today, Jesus used the parable of the ten virgins in his eschatological teaching, showing people’s disposition towards the Kingdom of heaven in their various ways where some are always ready for the kingdom of heaven (the wise virgins), while others could not get themselves prepared for the coming of the bridegroom (the foolish virgins)
This is never to infuse fear in us, but it is a truth we can’t shy away from and must be reawakened in our consciousness, in our search for material things, that despite our busyness in search to quench our hunger for material things, we must remember that we are but pilgrims here on earth and must always be ready. And so we must “…stay awake, because you do not know either the day or the hour.”
We pray that we will be found awake and ready when the bridegroom comes.
Remain Blessed!
Peace be with you 🙏🏾🙌🏾
