HOMILY OF FRIDAY OF THE FIRST WEEK OF ADVENT YEAR C. 6TH OF DECEMBER 2024
1st reading : Isaiah 29:17-24
Psalm 26:1,4,13-14
Gospel : Matthew 9:27-31
The readings of today renew the hope of those who are imprisoned in the cells of unproductivity, rejection, injustice, betrayal, sickness, material, and spiritual poverty as it assures us that the time of God’s intervention is close at hand. With faith in God’s promises, we can anticipate a transformative change in our lives.
Thus, He tells us through the prophecy of Isaiah that “… in a short time, a very short time,
shall not Lebanon become fertile landand fertile land turn into forest? The deaf, that day, will hear the words of a book and, after shadow and darkness, the eyes of the blind will see…. the lowly will rejoice in the Lord even more
and the poorest exult in the Holy One of Israel…”
Furthermore, in the gospel, we see that the materialization of our hope is highly dependent on our faith in Jesus Christ. Hence, we must exercise unshakable faith in the sight of God that our hope may not be disappointed.
“…Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to him, “Yes, Lord.” Then he touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be done to you.” And their eyes were opened…”
We must cooperate with God through our faith for the actualization of His promises in our lives.
Peace be with you 🙏🏾🙌🏾
