*THEME: MEETING JESUS AT THE POOL.*
Challenges can alter people’s state of mind that they find it difficult to express their needs. If we are to listen to every word of those we want to help, we may be discouraged.
Let’s check the response of the paralytic in our today’s gospel. His response to Jesus’ question was funny.
*Jesus* : Do you want to be healed?
*Paralytic* : Sir, I have no one to put into the pool when the water is troubled., and while I am going another steps before me.
*Jesus* : Rise, take up your pallet and walk.
The man has been used to his condition for a whole thirty-eight years. He is now used to the obstacles he always encounters whenever the water is stirred. He never believed that Jesus can healed him. His only hope was in the troubled water. That was why he was complaining about the lack of helper. He never knew that his helper was at hand. He did not know Jesus as the Messiah who has come. His healing was not based on his faith in Jesus, but on the seeking love of the Lord.
At times, we may not know the only one who knows what we are passing through. Jesus is our great helper. He is our healer. He knows us. Though we may not know of his power to save, he knows the intensity of our problems.
Moreover, whatever may the pool in which we find ourselves, Jesus remains our great help. At the pool of poverty, joblessness, barrenness, marital challenges, etc. Jesus can change our story. Despite the popular solution that we may be seeking, he can step into our case.
More so, the Lord Jesus is the one searching for us. Despite our unworthiness, he is ready to help us. Lifting us out of our problems, he wants us to lead lives worthy of God’s call.
May God’s love locate us in whatever situation we may find ourselves. May his works in our lives bring us closer to him and kill the tendencies to sin in our lives, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
