THE GRACE TO SEE THE FINGER OF GOD

48

The grace to see the finger of God is accompanied by a willingness to embrace new experiences. The approval of the masses does not necessarily serve as evidence that we are following the correct path. We live in a world where everything sells; In a world where people make selections based on their desires, often irrespective of the substance at hand. It isn’t always about whether it’s beneficial or not, but rather about whether I desire it or not. That is why the good can be rejected and the evil can be cherished.

Jesus was accused.

It takes proper discernment to know when God is at work. The grace to see the finger of God is the right of those who truly accept that through Jesus Christ, God has come to dwell among us. “When Jesus had cast out a devil, some of the people said, ‘It is through Beelzebul, the prince of devils, that he casts out devils”. Having seen Jesus casting out devils without a long procedure as the then exorcists would do, his power to ascribe to the Beelzebub, the prince of the devil. They misjudged what they did not know and criticised what they did not understand. They were unable to see God’s hands at work because their minds were dimmed with ignorance and prejudice.

The grace to see the finger of God.

The grace to see the finger of God helps us to know when God visits and when he comes to do new things among us. When we attribute his work to the devil, we simply sin against the Holy Spirit. On the other hand, if we parade the work of the devil as God’s work, we will surely miss the mark. Surely the acknowledgement of God’s presence and his power to save put an end to Satan’s rule over us.

In the long run, we need the grace to see the finger of God in our lives. Because perfect knowledge of God keeps the devil away from us. The Lord Jesus said, in the gospel, “When an unclean spirit goes out of a man it wanders through waterless country looking for a place to rest, and not finding one it says, “I will go back to the home I came from.” But on arrival, finding it swept and tidied, it then goes off and brings seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and set up house there, so that the man ends up by being worse than he was before.” Let us feed ourselves with the right knowledge of God to keep Satan completely away from us.

May we always recognise God’s presence in our lives. Amen.
