HOMILY, TUESDAY, 12TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A
2Kings 19:9b-11.14-21.31-35a.36, Matthew 7:6.12-14
“Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under foot and turn to attack you.”
It is not all soil that can support all seeds.
The word of God will be fruitful only in the lives of those who have the spiritual capacity to comprehend it.
Some people have grown used to profane things that they need to have a certain experience before they can welcome holy matters.
Some people’s minds are too simple to comprehend certain body of knowledge.
Some who are not ready to hear the truth about their life can twist your words to attack you.
The Eucharist is the true body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ only to those who understand the theology of transubstantiation.
We do not do or say the same the thing to everybody. Everybody has different mode of understanding based on their knowledge and lived experience.
Though we may mean well, the best of our advice can be used against us.
WHICH WAY?
When it is difficult to change people by our words, the example our lives can go a long way to turn their life around.
PRAYER
O Lord! Help me to bear effective witness to your words. Give me the wisdom that will help me to reach out in a more appropriate way to those who are yet to understand yours ways. Make me a light in darkness. Enlighten me to enlighten others. Thy kingdom come.
