HOMILY OF MONDAY OF THE 10TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A
2 Corinthians 1:1-7, Matthew 5:1-12
THEME: HEAVENLY BOUNTY.
Our blessedness is seen in the eternal implication of whatever we do with our lives. If we know that nothing is permanent, we will never allow our present situations to dampen our vitality. The fact that we cannot live forever presupposes that whatever we face today has an expiry date. Their life span is shorter than our lives and cannot be longer than the years we shall live in this passing world.
Jesus speaks in the gospel, language of assurance of divine reward for those who wait on him in all situations. No matter what we pass through in his name, we shall be rewarded, either here on earth, or in the hereafter.
However, the beatitudes are not invitations to court for troubles in the world as means of gaining heavenly bounty. Rather, they are messages of courage for those who face challenges in their bid to live in righteousness.
I pray that nothing in life will stop us from standing for the faith we profess, through Christ our Lord, Amen.
