HOMILY, 17TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A
1Kings 3:5.7-12, Rom 8:28-30, Matthew 13:44-52
What matters in life is not what we have, but having a body of knowledge enough to manage them.
The Lord said to Solomon,
“Because you asked this, and have not asked for yourself long life or riches or the life of your enemies, but have asked for understanding t discern what is right, behold, I now do according to your word. Behold, I give you a wise and discerning mind, so that none like you has been before you and none like you shall arise after you.”
To have God is to have everything.
“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up, then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.”
We need the knowledge of how to relate with others. We need the wisdom to manage the affairs of our life. When we give God the prime of place in our lives, he sets our records straight. We discover everything the day we encounter God.
PRAYER
O Lord! I need you all the way. Do not desert me. May I be among your beloved that you may order my days according to your merciful designs. Thy kingdom come.
