SELFLESSNESS: LEARNING THE ART OF TRUE LIVING

75

HOMILY, FRIDAY 18TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A

 Nahum 2:1, 3:1-3.6-7, Matthew 16:24-28

Those who are intent on self-survival hardly form the habit of sacrifice. Everything must be for their convenience and safety.

To truly live is being able to give up something for others. It is all about the gift of self-donation for impact. People of impact will continue to live in the collective memory of the society.

What we give to this world is what we shall take in the world to come. If we live our lives as if all ends here, then we have lost out. The life lived in the path of Christ leads to eternal life.

If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, and who whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.”

Beloved in Christ, we must know that existence is not just about us alone. Like Jesus, let us pour out our life like libation and work to form a world redeemed.

PRAYER

Lord, grant that I may live for you. May my life be a mirror for others. Grant that I may not lose your divine presence after my journey here on earth. Thy kingdom come.
