Jesus advised His disciples in the gospel of Matthew to “be wise as serpents and gentle as doves” (Matthew 10:16)
The Christian life is never a call to abandon our thinking faculty and embrace foolishness in the name of letting the will of God be done and thereby living carelessly without caution.
We must know that the will of the devil (i.e to steal, to kill, and to destroy) can easily be done if we fail to employ the use of our rationality even in our faith system.
According to the gospel text of today, “… Jesus went about in Galilee; he would not go about in Judea because the Jews sought to kill him. Now, the Jews’ feast of Tabernacles was at hand. But after his brethren had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly but in private…”
He would not allow himself to be arrested because His time has not yet come.
You can imagine what would have happened if Jesus was arrested and killed before His time. He would have been named another ‘failed Adam’ just like the first one.
Consequently, he applied his human wisdom to preserve himself and would not go out anyhow until the appointed time, knowing that his enemies were tracking him down to kill Him.
We must learn not to easily expose ourselves to those who do not want our good and would want to entrap and destroy us.
We must apply Jesus’ policy of secrecy and diligence in the search for our life’s goals in order to achieve them in the due time without disruptions.
We pray that God may help us to preserve our lives until we achieve our goals.
Peace be with you 🙏🏾
