STAYING CONNECTED, By Fr Oluwafemi Victor Orilua CSSp

64

HOMILY OF THURSDAY OF THE SECOND WEEK OF EASTER.

Acts 5:27-33, John 3:31-36

THEME: STAYING CONNECTED

A river that forgets its source will surely run dry. The day God becomes secondary in our life, we begin to feel the heat of the earth. Earthly life without God must surely be suffocating. Though the system of the world may create alternatives an for God, the damages of human choices need eternity to be remedied. And it is better we save our sanity for eternity by being conscious of our eternal source, God.

Should we please God or man? Man will only see the side we show him, but God sees everything. Above all, being true to God is being true to ourselves. In the first reading, when they were warned sternly not to preach the gospel, the disciples said,

Obedience to God comes before obedience to men.”

We stay connected to God by obeying his ways. In the gospel, John the Baptist says to his disciples,

“Anyone who believes in the Son has eternal life, but anyone who refuses to believe in the Son will never see life: the anger of God stays on him.”

We have freedom of choice. And we must be ready to live by the consequences of whatever choice we make. If we follow the world, our thirst can never be assuaged, but if we do the will of God, we cannot be exhausted, because he is a source that never runs dry.

May the ocean of our blessings never run dry through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
