*THEME: THE GRACE TO LISTEN*

Those who do want to hear, are people who live their life on already made answers. They are not open to change and their mode of seeing have been darkened by prejudice.

“This psalmist says,” Oh that today you would listen to his voice, harden not your heart.” Psalm 95:7-8

In the first reading, the Lord said, ” _This command I gave my people, obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people, and walk in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you. But they did not obey or incline their ear, but walk in their own counsels and the stubbornness of their evil hearts, and went backward and not forward_ .” Jeremiah 7: 23-26.

More so, in the gospel, we see how some people arrogated Jesus power to Beelzebul, the prince of demons. They did so simply because they must find a way to reject him.

While the truth is eternal, the unfolding of its knowledge is progressive. For those who reject it, it is either they move backward or remain static in the wheel of progress.

We must be ready to review our ways in the light of God. We must be humble to listen to what God is saying at a given time. We must be ready to appreciate what God is doing every time. When he works through others to reach out to us, let us desire the discernment to recognize him.

May we never miss the the impact of the grace of God at work in our midst. Amen.
