Many times, we encounter individuals with spiritual insight into the kind of person we are—people who have something to say about our life’s journey. Often, we rejoice at the beautiful things they reveal about us. We hear them say things like, “You are born for greatness,” “You are destined to be a prophet,” or “God has ordained you to be a healer,” among other affirmations.
However, it is unfortunate that many people merely relish these beautiful affirmations without taking any action, ultimately falling far short of fulfilling them. They forget that we still need to concretely cooperate with whatever God has designed for us. God sought the consent of Mary, though he has designed her for the singular of becoming the mother of the Saviour.
When Jesus was brought to the temple, The prophetess Anna, made some proclamation about him. “She came by just at that moment and began to praise God; and she spoke of the child to all who looked forward to the deliverance of Jerusalem. When they had done everything the Law of the Lord required, they went back to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. Meanwhile the child grew to maturity, and he was filled with wisdom; and God’s favour was with him.”
Despite all the prophecies about the child Jesus, he still had to pass through some processes of growth to achieve the maturity that he needed before he began his mission. Likewise, we need to respect the process in whatever we do. We need to be patient and get ourselves groomed into capacity capable of handling our goals. Any rush for result can be self-defeating.
We pray that we have the perfect understanding of our true life calling and the patient to pass through all it takes to bring it to fruition. Amen.
