THE TRIUMPH OF THE TRUTH, By Fr Oluwafemi Victor Orilua CSSp

58

HOMILY OF EASTER MONDAY YEAR A

Acts 2:14,22-33, Matthew 28:8-15

THEME: THE TRIUMPH OF THE TRUTH

The truth that Jesus is the way cannot be hidden. The truth of his words gives us life. He was in the grave but he didn’t remain there. His presence among us cannot be concealed, although it might not be known to us due to our unbelief.

Judging by the evil plot of those who crucified him, he knew that the empty tomb wouldn’t be enough evidence of his resurrection. He had to make a public and physical appearance of himself having risen from the dead.

The chief priests and elders had devised a false plan. They bribed the soldiers and told them to announce that his disciples came during the night and stole his body while they were asleep. Interestingly, Jesus was a step ahead of them, before they hatched their plan, he had told the women, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers that they must leave for Galilee; they will see me there. “There is no evil plan that can bury the truth forever.

The consistent nature of the truth cannot allow falsehood to overshadow it. Liars have ways of exposing themselves. Time is not always on their side. Time will tell. No matter what we pass through for the sake of truth, time will surely tell. Though we may suffer or die like Jesus, there is nothing we do on the platform of truth that will not speak for us or our generation.

Beloved, let us follow the way of Christ. His path may be rough but his plans are glorious. Though we may not fully understand his ways, he is there to guide us. if we follow his truth, he will never allow the forces around to close in on us.

We pray to experience the power of the Lord’s resurrection. Amen.
