HOMILY OF THE SEVENTH DAY IN THE OCTAVE OF CHRISTMAS

R1:- John 2:18-21
PS:- 96:1-2.11-12.13
Accl:- John 1-14.12
Gospel:- John 1-1-18

It requires divine light to walk upon the darkness of error. It is gross ignorance that makes one walk away from the source of light into darkness.

God, in his words and deeds has been in existence. He continues to dwell among us in diverse ways. He is our light in whose light we see light.

Moreover, God relates with us in varying ways through the marvels in the world, but we often ignore his presence in those wonders and tag them as mere nature or pure science. When he tangibly came in human form so as to speak in the language that man would understand, he was not recognised either.

However, we read from our today’s gospel,

“The true light that enlightens every man was coming into the world. He was in the world and the world was made through him, yet the world knew him not. He came into his own home and his people received him not”. John 1:10-11.

Let us pray that we always recognise the hands of God in the happenings around us. Let us pray that we may welcome him whenever he comes to us in our neighbours.

May we never refuse God’s invitation. May we always cooperate with his plans in our lives and equally join force for the realisation of his works in the world. Amen.
