Homily of Tuesday 25th Sunday in the Ordinary time Year B. 24th September, 2024
Texts: Proverbs 21:1-6.10-13, Luke 8: 19-21
Today dear friends, going through the readings, I feel led to let us reassure ourselves again of what and who we are. We are the children of God. It does not matter what you are going through or experiencing now. You are a child of God and God will always come through for you.
In the gospel reading of today, Jesus speaks of the criteria of what makes people his brothers, sisters and mother. The major criterion was “doing the will of God.” Today dear friends, we are called to exemplify what we claim (children of God) in what we do. In a world where it is difficult to let go of our wills especially when we actually know what we want for ourselves. God calls us to do his will. We may know what we want, but God knows what we need.
In the first reading of today, God speaks to us through the sage concerning how God controls the heart of a king. God’s power is unlimited. As such, He makes things work for good unto those who are His own. So again I repeat, it does not matter what you are going through in life right now, God will cause things to work in your favor. Simply abide by the will of God. It is in God’s will that we find our peace. There is a way that may seem right to us, but the end is destruction. We do not wish for this. We need God’s will to prevail in our lives while we strive to do this daily.
The Lord be with you.
