HOMILY, THURSDAY, 19TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A
Ezekiel 12:1-12, Matthew 18:21-19:1
In a world where the majority despise God, we are meant to be signs of God’s presence. In a society where our words no longer make sense, we must embark on a mission of presence. Our life must pass messages for others to see. By our lives, we are meant to demonstrate what God is set to do in our community. If we join the crowd, we will miss this special mission. Hence, we must strive to stand out in the midst of a wayward society.
In our today’s first reading, the Lord instructed Ezekiel to dramatize his plans before the rebellious house of Israel. He was to demonstrate how they would be taken into exile.
When people are hard of hearing and they can no longer see things clearly, the tendency to sink into perdition or destruction is not always possible.
Let us pray that we are teachable, that we may not live in the darkness of error. Let us always submit ourselves to be used by God to carry his mission in our time.
PRAYER
O Lord my mighty help, open my heart to see your works in and around me that I may not suffer the fate of those who do not listen. Thy kingdom come.
