HOMILY, MONDAY OF THE 22ND WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR ( A)*
R1:- 1 Corinthians 2:1-5

*THEME: RECOGNISING THE HANDS OF GOD.*´
We become relevant and the world tends to listen to our story the moment we strike the right button that ignites our purpose in life.
However, it may be somewhat nauseating when those of our own stock do not appreciate or associate themselves with our mission.
The eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on Jesus the moment he announced his mission on earth. He proclaimed,
” _The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor . He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”_
Unfortunately, with all the promises of his divine mandate, his own people didn’t recognize the hands of God upon him. For cheer familiarity, they angrily bid him farewell. He knew it quite well that no prophet is acceptable in his own country.
Obviously, to truly experience the power of God, we must rid ourselves of any kind of prejudice or malice. God cannot manifest himself to us through what is strange to us. He meets us in the ‘ordinariness’ of our everyday experiences. We encounter him both in the big and the small, the rich and the poor, the learned and the unlearned.
I pray that as a result of ignorance or mere familiarity, we shall not walk God out of our life. Amen.
