*THEME: WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE AGREE*
*
We often find it difficult to be at peace with others because we love seeing things as they affect us as individuals.
When we do not rate the community needs above our personal needs, we cannot live in peace with others. There is a great strength in concerted effort. There is power in united front.
The Lord said in today’s gospel,
“if two agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”
When we put God first, his spirit becomes the cord that binds us together.
Even when we speaks, we do not see ourselves as speakers, passively we are speakers and actively we are listeners. We will see God as the one who speaks in us. And as long as we lend our lips to God and give him our minds, we do not see our words as ours and we do not follow our own minds. Rather, we speak God’s mind on every issue. This helps us to be at the service of love and unity, because we will all see things from God’s point of view. When we know that God is one, and that he cannot contradict himself, we draw the courage to correct others when he directs us to do so.
He said in our today’s first reading, “You, son of man, I have made a watchman for the house of Israel; whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me…”
As preachers, let us speak the mind of God. As members of a family or community, let us invite him to be our leader and be ready to follow his commandment of love.
He invites us today to forgive. He calls us to agree. Great things are achieved more in peaceful and calm environment.
*PRAYER*
May the Lord bind us with the cord that cannot be broken. May the Lord bind us with love. Amen.
