HOMILY FRIDAY OF THE 28TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A
Eph 1:11-14, Luke 12:1-7.
When we make man our God, we sign ourselves into the company of hypocrites. A hypocrite puts himself under the watch of man. He is an actor, playing out a script. But those who fear God are aware that, to him [God], nothing is hidden. A hypocrite works to satisfy man who cannot search into all there is, for man is limited.
However, for fear of fellow men, many have denied God. Fortunately, when we put our trust in God, our life is secure. Total security cannot be guaranteed by unstable humanity. Only God is.
The Lord said, “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known….I tell you friends, my friends. Do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I warn you who to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has power to cast in to hell.”
We play our roles as sons and daughters of God when we boldly represent him without the fear reprisal attack. The Lord has told us that the hairs of our heads are all numbered. God takes care of all who belong to him.
As we represent the Lord in all our walks of life, may his grace abide in us that we may always enjoy the beauty of his presence. Amen.
