Today, we celebrate the Solemnity of all saints. These are our fellow brothers and sisters, who having trod the path of grace are now before our God in heaven.
It is a thing of joy to know that our life does not end in this world. It is more soothing to understand that God has eternal reward for those who have chosen to pour out their lives for him.
The saints are those who having lived the life of grace here on earth and are now enjoying eternal bliss. They are the beneficiaries of the blessedness which Jesus declared in our today’s gospel.
In our present political situations and unrest in the world, in the face of corruption and injustice, in the midsts of decay in faith and moral, the door of heaven is open only to those who would wash themselves in the blood of the Lamb.
Though our political gladiators may create pitiable conditions, where without qualms of conscience, we may be forced to join the bad wagons, heaven belongs to the blessed. In the bid to survive, we may be pushed to give sins good names, it is only those with clean hands and pure heart that will climb the mountain of the Lord. And it is only those who seek the face of the Lord that shall stand in his holy place.
May the saints of God pray for us.
May no unjust structure, may no reason whatsoever stop us from reaching heaven, our perfect home in Jesus name. Amen.
