HOW OPENNESS UNLUCKS OUR SENSE OF CREATIVITY

1.1k

HOMILY OF WEDNESDAY OF THE 33RD WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A.

DEDICATION OF THE BASILICA OF SS PETER AND PAUL.

Rev 4:1-11, Luke 19:11-28

We cannot obey who we do not love. “If you love me, keep my commandments” says the Lord.

When we do not work with the prejudice or on our own personal negative conclusions on others, we can easily go well with them. Our capacity to cope with others can be influenced by our expectations from them. It takes openness to unluck our sense of creativity.

The nobleman in today’s gospel was hated by the citizens. They did not want him to rule over them. While he was away to receive his kingly power, he gave his servants ten pounds to trade with. Two of the servants bracketed the malice which people had against the master and traded with their own pounds and made profits. One of them refused to trade with his own pounds. He allowed his reservations about his master to silence his sense for productivity. Of course, he paid heavily for his inactivity, while the other two were rewarded.

For no reason whatsoever, we must not allow any circumstances to kill our sense of creativity.

Moreover, the church is our home where we bridge up every gap of separation, so as to build an environment where everybody becomes responsible.

As we celebrate the dedication of the Basilica of Peter and Paul, may we recognise the place of God’s love in our midst, so as to functions effectively under his canopy.
