HOMILY OF TUESDAY OF THE FIRST WEEK OF ADVENT YEAR B
Isaiah 11:1-10, Luke 10: 21-4
The knowledge of God is the prerogative of those who with child-like attitude accept the gospel of God’s grace. To them belongs the secret of heaven.
Jesus said in today’s gospel, “I thank you Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to infants.”
Though God gave us reason, it was not meant to question his existence. Although, it is unimaginable, God, becoming a man to dwell among mortals, it takes the eyes of faith to meet the divine in Jesus. It is a privilege. It is gracious.
“No one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”
Perfect knowledge of God is a product of friendship with Jesus who is the visible image of the invisible God.
O Lord, help us to know you in your Son. Teach us all we need to know about you and your plans for our salvation. Thy kingdom come. Amen.
