Homily of Monday of the 27th Week in ordinary Time
Our Lady of the Rosary
Galatians 1:6-12, Luke 10:25-37

[Our Lady of the Rosary is a title given to the Virgin Mary in honor of her powerful intercession through the prayer of the rosary. Celebrated on October 7, this devotion reflects Mary’s guidance and protection throughout history, especially during times of trial. Through the rosary, the faithful meditate on the life of Christ and seek Mary’s help in drawing closer to God, trusting in her maternal care and grace. Her role in spreading the gospel through her intercession remains profound.

Paul said to the Galatians, “The fact is, brothers, and I want you to realise this, the Good News I preached is not a human message that I was given by men, it is something I learnt only through a revelation of Jesus Christ.”

Paul made the above statement when he realised that there were some people who were preaching different gospel to the Galatians. Disparity in messages is a sign that they are not coming from the same source. Christ is one. If there are conflicting preaching among believers, it is a sign that each has started preaching from his or her mind and not from Christ. Hence, the necessity for authentic revelation. God cannot contradict himself.

These days, we are confronted with different messages from different leaders of churches. That is why it is good to have a unified body of doctrine which governs our theology. Nevertheless, it requires keen study of the scriptures and total surrender to the prompting of the Holy Spirit for an authentic interpretation of the scripture lest we end up in endless theological controversies. The leaders of the church who are meant to lead others in their knowledge of the word must not interpret the word as it suits them or based on their own preferred ideologies.

Paul said, “Not that there can be more than one Good News; it is merely that some troublemakers among you want to change the Good News of Christ; and let me warn you that if anyone preaches a version of the Good News different from the one we have already preached to you, whether it be ourselves or an angel from heaven, he is to be condemned”

We pray that we are not condemned through the word we preach each day. May Mary, the seat of Wisdom and our Lady of the Rosary pray for us. Amen.
