Homily Of Wednesday In The Second Week Of Advent, Year C.
Ref: ISA 40: 25-31, Matt 11: 28-30

Dear friends, obviously, since the start of this month we’ve been hearing “Hope, Hope and Hope.” Well, you won’t stop hearing it because and again I’ve come with the message of hope.

At this time, Isaiah the prophet tells us “those who hope in the Lord renew their strength.” Most times we feel we have reached the end of our strength and we can no longer move or forge ahead with the burdens of life. We feel, our only companion is darkness and we say our destiny is hidden from God. Friends, I have a good news for you.

In the first reading, Isaiah reminds us of the power of God. He reminds us of his ever dwelling presence with us in our weariness, powerlessness and weakness. Jesus then tells us in the Gospel text, all you who have hope in me, come now and cast your burdens to me and I will give you rest.

Come to Jesus and he will give you strength never to grow tired or weary. Come to Jesus that he may help you to put out your wings like eagles so that you may run this race and never be tired.

May God help us to come closer to him in our times of challenges. May we have the grace to always put Jesus first as we continue to hope for his coming. Amen.

Peace be with you
