Witnessing to the good news of Jesus is not an easy task. It requires great faith and courage to speak about this wonderful experience. Many times, we confronted with threats and opposition when we witness to Jesus and the goodnews of salvation. Then fear sets in because we are not truly convinced about what we stand for.
Today’s Gospel passage reinforces the reality of the resurrection, emphasises the importance of Scripture, commissioning believers to be witnesses, and highlights the transformative power of forgiveness and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. It challenges us to embrace our role as witnesses of the risen Christ and to participate in the mission of proclaiming the Good News to all nations.
When Jesus first appeared to His disciples, they were filled with fear. They thought that, they are seeing a ghost. Then, Jesus responds by asking them to examine His hands and feet, where the wounds from the crucifixion were. This direct encounter with the scars of His crucifixion serves as undeniable proof of His identity.
Jesus reassures the disciples and dispels their doubts and fears and fills them with courage to be witnesses in the days to come. Just like the disciples of Jesus. Jesus is reassuring us today, not to be afraid to be witnesses to the good news. Jesus’s resurrection is the sign of victory.
