Dear friends, in today’s first reading, we see Paul’s approach to evangelization in Athens, a city of renowned philosophers who gave little or no attention to Jesus. His method beautifully demonstrates how to share God’s message through the Spirit.
Paul’s method teaches us a valuable lesson: instead of condemning others’ beliefs, we can engage them by showing genuine admiration and understanding. As he explored the city, Paul noticed the Athenians’ deep religiosity and acknowledged their sacred monuments. He skillfully connected the God he preached to the “Unknown God” they already revered. By starting with what they knew, Paul gently guided them toward the truth of the risen Christ.
Similarly, in our society, many people seek freedom and fulfillment, often searching for peace and rest in various places. Like Paul, we can help them find what they’re truly looking for. Rather than condemning their pursuits, let’s build bridges and guide them toward the truth of the Gospel.
As Jesus promised, the Spirit of truth will lead us to complete truth. May the Holy Spirit guide all those seeking peace, rest, and fulfillment, and may we be instruments of His love and guidance. Amen.
