*HOMILY OF THURSDAY OF THE OCTAVE OF EASTER*
Acts 3:11-26, Luke 24:35-48
*THEME: WHY JESUS MUST DIE*
All that Jesus did and all that the Father allowed to happen to him are meant to serve a singular purpose, that is, union of man to God.
All those who played one role or the other in his suffering and death should count themselves fortunate. However, their participation becomes meaningful only and if only they key themselves into the reason for which he came. He came to save humanity.
The miracles of Jesus and all that he endured were avenues through which he calls man to a perfect union with his heavenly Father.
He appeared to his disciples after his resurrection to concretized his message of redemption in their lives.
“Thus it is written , that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in his name in all nations, beginning from Jerusalem”
Moreover, those who persecuted Jesus have also enjoyed the privilege of an encounter with him. Knowing that they have contributed to the fulfilment of the scripture in his life, they are equally invited to repent.
Jesus invites those who love him to a higher life. He called those who persecuted him to repent.
May every bit of our encounter with Christ, may all his work in us or around us lead us to a closer walk with God. Amen.
