THEME: KNOWING HE WHO YOU ARE FOLLOWING IS FOLLOWING.

Its not enough knowing who you are following. You need to know he who you are following is following. You must know who your leaders pay allegiance to. You need to know the source where your mentors tap their strength.

As long we get our fill or are comfortable, we often follow others without knowing where they spring from.

Jesus said,

He believes in me, believes not in me but in him who sent me.”

Jesus tells us where he came from and his testimony is true. By words and works he made his Father known.

In one way of the other, we are playing the script of our own fathers. The works of our hands can be traced to those who have gone before us. Jesus wants to help our past by inserting us into the heart of his eternal Father through a divine adoption, lest we share in the fate of those whose weight of sins may prove obstacles to our spiritual ascent.

He once told the Jews,

If you were Abraham’s children, said Jesus, “then you would do what Abraham did. As it is, you are looking for a way to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do such things. You are doing the works of your own father.”

“We are not illegitimate children,” they protested. “The only Father we have is God himself.”

Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me. Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say.

You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:39-44

Moreover, anyone or leader who does not point beyond himself is trying to equate himself with the almighty. No man is an island. Pride and arrogance are proofs of fake personality.

Jesus is our way to the Father, he is our light. He is lamp to our steps. To share in his title as a Son, we must share in his obedience to his Father, so that we may through him enter our eternal home.

May our life bear fruits for eternal redemption. May we always understand the language of the Father through Christ our Lord. Amen.
