HOMILY OF SATURDAY OF THE SEVENTH WEEK OF EASTER YEAR B
Acts 28:16-20.30-31, John 21:20-25.
THEME: KNOWING ONLY WHAT WE NEED TO KNOW
It takes maturity to believe that what we know is just a fraction of all there is. The best use of the little we know can open us up to the vista of greater knowledge.
John recorded in his gospel, “There are also many other things which Jesus did; were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.” John 21:25
In any case, we must not know everything that Jesus did before we can be good Christians. Like Peter, we can be too inquisitive that we begin to seek knowledge which we do not need or may busy making inquiry on matters that is not our concern.
“When Peter turned and saw following them the disciple whom Jesus loved, who had lain close to his breast at the super and had said, ‘Lord who is it that is going to betray you? When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, ‘Lord, what about this man? Jesus said to him, ‘If it is my will that he remains until I come, what is that to you?” John 21;20-23
May the good Lord reveal his will to us. May he show us all we need to know concerning our life destiny that we may give him our best. Amen.
