HOW TO REMAIN FRUITFUL, By Fr Oluwafemi Victor Orilua CSSp

34

HOMILY OF WEDNESDAY OF THE 5TH WEEK OF EASTER.

Acts 15:1-6, John 15:1-8

THEME: HOW TO REMAIN FRUITFUL

Fruitfulness is a function of constant connection with our source of sustenance.  Though we may seem to be fruitful, having gotten ourselves connected to someone from whom we get our daily bread, the capacity to produce our own means of survival is a mark of someone who is productive. Instead of looking for fish, we can learn how to fish. Fruitful people do not rely on luck, neither do they settle only for free gifts. They look for what they are proficient in and develop themselves along that line.

Fruitful people bend down to utilize their God-given talents and they never cut themselves off from God who only can infuse more unction to function. They remain obedience and grateful to God in their daily struggles amidst life’s toil.

Through obedience and gratitude, one can remain in constant touch with one’s benefactor.

The Lord Jesus, the great provider,  said in the Holy Gospel, “I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me, with me in him, bears fruit in plenty; for cut off from me you can do nothing.” We remain in the Lord by doing his will and being always grateful for his benevolence in our lives.

However, fruitfulness is integral; body, soul, and spirit. We achieve the unity of our spiritual impulse when we rely solely on God’s directive and we never loose sight of the gospel values in our chosen walk of life.

May our reliance on God yield us abundant blessings in all we do, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
