HOMILY OF SUNDAY IN THE 21ST WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A
Isaiah 22:19-23, Romans 11:33-36, Matthew 16:13-20
THEME: HOW TO HAVE A PERFECT KNOWLEDGE OF GOD
Our understanding of God’s knowledge at its best stems from what He has revealed to us, rather than being a result of studying or relying on hearsay. We need to always aspire to be led by His spirit.
In our second reading, we learn, “How rich are the depths of God – how deep his wisdom and knowledge – and how impossible to penetrate his motives or understand his methods!”
Moreover, in the gospel, when Jesus asked the disciples about their perception of his identity, Peter responded, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”. And Jesus replied, “Simon son of Jonah, you are a happy man! Because it was not flesh and blood that revealed this to you but my Father in heaven.”
Before we can speak about God or claim to convey his message, we need to journey closely with him to have a perfect understanding of his ways. May his word be written boldly in our hearts. And may his voice be distinct in our ears. Amen.
