THE HEART OF LOVE

663

HOMILY, FRIDAY, 11TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME

(SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS)

Deut 7:6-11. 1John 4:7-16, Matthew 11:25-30

THEME: THE HEART OF LOVE

The heart of Jesus is a heart of love. It is the heart of the Father who always seeks the lost.

God’s love is eternal for those who keep him in mind.

Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenant and merciful love with those who love him and keep his commandment, to a thousand generation…” Deut 7:9

God expressed his love in a more concrete way when he sent his only begotten Son into the world to save us by his death upon the cross. The heart of Jesus is the heart of the Father. By his life Jesus taught us how to live and move in love. He said, “If you love me, keep my commandment.”  John 14:15. “Come to me all who labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest, take my yoke upon you and learn from me.” Matthew 11: 28-29

Whoever longs to enjoy God’s love should learn from Jesus the best way to express love. Unlike other human hearts, his heart continues to beat till eternity, for death cannot overcome him. To be alive is to maintain the heartbeat of Jesus.

For his love,

He saved us while we were still sinners. Let us show love even to those who we think do not deserve it.

He forgave his executioners. Let us learn how to forgive those who hurt us.

He gave up his life. Let us learn how to make sacrifice for others. It is not always about us and our self survival.

May we develop Christ attitudes as we ask him to give us more of his spirit. May we always connect to him to draw life from him that we may live constantly in love.

PRAYER

Jesus I love you. All I am is yours. Yours I am and yours I want to be. Do with me whatever you will. Amen.
