How to Pray

In today’s gospel, we find a powerful moment when one of Jesus’ disciples approached Him with a simple yet profound request: “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” In response, Jesus gives valuable insights into the art of prayer, providing a model that remains relevant for us today. Let us explore how to pray effectively based on Jesus’ teachings.

Address God with Reverence:

Our prayer should start by acknowledging God’s holiness and sovereignty. He remains our Father, worthy of our deep respect. We must recognize that we are entering into a sacred communion with the Creator of the universe.

Seeking God’s Kingdom:

In our prayers, the Lord taught us to express the desire for God’s kingdom to come. This signifies surrendering to His divine will and recognizing His authority over our life. It’s a way of aligning our desires with His divine plan.

Asking for our Daily Needs:

Jesus encourages us to bring our daily concerns before God. He taught us to for our daily bread, not just limited to physical sustenance but also spiritual nourishment.  As we ask God to provide for our needs, we must remember to request for the needs of others.

Asking for forgiveness and grace.

As we pray, we must be willing to confess our sins and ask for God’s forgiveness. Reflect on our own readiness to forgive others who may have wronged us. It is more important to extend the same grace we seek from God to those who owe us a debt of any kind.

Request Spiritual Strength:
