HOMILY, TUESDAY, 15TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A
Isaiah 7:1-9, Matthew 11:20-24
It is self-destructive to doubt the words of God concerning us. It is disastrous to qoute God when he has not spoken. It is dangerous to downplay his works in our life.
Whatever he says he would do, he will surely do.
Having assured king Ahaz of victory over his enemies before whom he was jerking, the Lord sternly warned him,
“If you will not believe, surely you shall not be established.”Isaiah 7:9
On the other hand, Jesus began to rebuke the cities where most of his mighty works had been done, because they did not repent.
“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago.” Matthew 11:20-21
The words of God are meant to establish us here on earth, that we may walk in dominion. His works are meant to draw us closer to himself so as gain the glorious life of heaven.
Dear beloved, let us always remember God. When the time is good, he is the reason. When the time is bad, he is there for us. He remains the same. We are the ones who can change. Let us pray that we may know and experience the power of his word and the essence of his works.
PRAYER
Oh Lord! May my faith in your word be firm. Help that I may always know that you are the reason why I live. Thy kingdom come.
