HOMILY OF TUESDAY 29TH WEEK IN THE ORDINARY TIME YEAR B, TUESDAY 21ST OCTOBER, 2024.
TEXTS: Ephesians 2:12-22, Luke 12:35-38

Dear friends, imagine being in a fight with someone you loved so much—perhaps even with God himself. It gets to a point you’ll be tired of the whole fight regardless of how many points you have to argue.

In Christ Jesus, St Paul tells us we have been reconciled with God. Our sins took us far away from him. As a result of our sins, walls of division were raised between us and God. We lived far away from him. We could barely recognize His voice because we were separated far off. Consequent upon this we lacked the peace we needed as God’s people.

However Dear friends, in Christ Jesus, we have found peace because these walls have been broken down. We have been reconciled with God. We have been given the spirit of the Father and we are no longer strangers. We know the voice of the Father as He speaks to us. We are loved and forgiven by Him. Oh what an experience!

It does not matter if the world hates us, God loves us. It does not matter if the world misunderstands us, God understands us, and this is the greatest thing we need.

To this dear friends in Christ, we are not to go back to the workings of the flesh so as not to keep ourselves in chains anymore. We must live as people of God possessed by His Spirit. Our life must be that of thanksgiving as people who are saved. We must be ready at all times that we may be found worthy when the master comes.

May the Lord bless His words in our hearts. Amen.
The Lord be with you
