HOMILY FOR THE FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER YR. A, BY REV FR EKESHIRI JUDE EMEKA CSSP.

THEME: DO NOT LET YOUR HEARTS BE TROUBLED (Acts 6:1-7, 1 Peter 2:4-9, John 14:1-12.

Jesus in the gospel consoles His apostles as well as well as those who believed in Him because He knows that we are already overwhelmed by the troubles of the world. He says that, “do not let your heart be troubled, trust in me and trust in the one who sent me” (John 14:1-12)

Trusting in God is the most beautiful experience anyone could ever get because, trusting gives us a full confidence in God’s love and providence. When anyone lacks trust in life, that person becomes empty and disillusioned with fear and brokenness.

In fear, we loose touch of any sense of courage to achieve greater feet’s in life. Jesus assures us today, not to be afraid because He is the way, the truth and the life, for no one can come to the Father except through Him. He is the channel by which we can have access to the Father. He is asking you today, do you believe? And He says, If you believe you can perform greater works than I did. Believing comes from trust and trust boost confidence.

Friends in Christ, do you believe in Jesus, that He can take away your fears and worries? Do you believe that He can open that closed doors in your life? Do you believe that He can give you peace again in your family. Do you believe that He has forgiven you of your sins. Do not let your heart be troubled trust in Jesus who is the way, the truth and the life. Peace be with you.
