FERTILE FOR FRUITFULNESS

69

HOMILY, SUNDAY 15TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A

Isaiah 55:10-11, Rom 8:18-23, Matthew 13:1-23

It is not all soil that can support all seed. The best of seeds is a waste on an infertile soil.

One thing is to listen to the best of homily or to read the bestsellers, another thing is to have the capacity to retain what we have heard or read.

When we give the word of God a prime of importance in our lives, he shields us from the dart of our salvation enemy. He puts Satan to shame. The evil one may create circumstances of worries around us. Worldly desires may mount up around us. The word of God remains active and alive. His words will guide us. His word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. Psalms 119:105. His word is truth and life John 17:17. His word is Amen. 2 Cor 1:20.

He said in today’s’ first reading,

My word that goes forth from my mouth shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I intend, and prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11.

Dear beloved, as we have seen in the parable of the sower in our today’s gospel, the Lord wants us to bear fruit. Let us build up the capacity to yield in hundredfold.  Let us make ourselves fertile for God’s word that we may be fruitful in life. Let us believe in his word. Let us do all within our capacity to avoid occasions and whatever can suffocate the word of God in our lives.

PRAYER

O Lord, I Love you. Make me fertile for your word. May all you said concerning me come to pass. Save me from the spirit of doubt, that I may always believe that your word is true. Thy kingdom come. Amen.
