THEME: GAINING THE CAPACITY TO UNDERSTAND SPIRITUAL THINGS..*
The spirit which proceeds from the Father and the Son is the evidence of the bond of love between them. He is the spirit of understanding, without which there cannot be unity. No one with divisive spirit can walk truly in the Lord’s way.
Moreover, this is Spirit that enlightens our minds to comprehend the word of God. In today’s gospel, the Lord Jesus said,
“I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth.”
There is truth that is beyond saying or surpasses what is said. When our mind is illumined by the Holy Spirit, it can easily pick meanings from the varying ways in which God speaks to us. It takes spiritual mind to understand spiritual things.
More so, our growth is not measured by the amount of the knowledge at our disposal, but by our capacity to assimilate what is adequate for the fulfilment of our ultimate goal in life.
May the Holy Spirit expand our horizon that we may understand the ways that leads to true life, through Christ our Lord.
