THEME: GOD AND HIS WORD.

“From out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” Matthew 12:34

We cannot be separate from our words. We cannot be bigger than how we are formed or informed.

God created the word by his word. He is found in his word.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1.

“And the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us” John 1:14

As we celebrate the Sunday of the Word of God today, we are reminded that we are products of his Word. Hence, we must be people who live by his word. His word is Amen.

Moreover, in our today’s first reading, the Word of God came to Jonah that he should go and announce to the Ninevites of the calamity he was to bring upon them. Amazingly, the people were sober after listening to Jonah. The repented of their evil deeds and in turn changed his mind, and decided not to destroy them again.

More so, in our gospel reading, Jesus went to Galilee and was preaching the Gospel of God, saying, “The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is at hand, repent and believe in the gospel”

The word of God in whatever form it takes is meant to remould us into his perfect image. According to second letter of St Paul to Timothy, he said, ”

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the truth, rebuking error, correcting faults, and giving instruction for right living” 2Tim. 3:16.

We are all called to study the word of God. We are all encouraged to bear witness to Christ in word and action.

May the Word of God bear fruits in our lives. May our lives be the living Bible for people to see. Amen.
