JOURNEYING WITH GOD, By Oluwafemi Victor Orilua CSSp

27

HOMILY OF THURSDAY IN THE 19TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A

Joshua 3:7-11,13-17, Matthew 18:21-19:1

THEME: JOURNEYING WITH GOD

Insured with the inherited prophetic mantle of Moses, Joshua worked in collaboration with the priests of the Lord. He passed on God’s instruction to the priests carrying the ark of the covenant as they led the people of Israel across river Jordan.

The Lord said to Joshua, ‘This very day I will begin to make you a great man in the eyes of all Israel, to let them be sure that I am going to be with you even as I was with Moses. As for you, give this order to the priests carrying the ark of the covenant: “When you have reached the brink of the waters of the Jordan, you are to stand still in the Jordan itself”.

Through our baptism in Jesus Christ, we partake in the threefold roles of priest, king, and prophet. Before we take any step in our life journey, we need to hear from God. We must seek his instruction so as to make straight our path.

May our baptismal anointed be ignited that we may enjoy God’s continuous directives. Amen.
